BINDER at the Busoni Piano Competition
For decades the Busoni Piano Competition has been a springboard for the best young pianists in the world. This year around 700 talents from all over the world took part in the first round digitally. Thirty of them were then invited to Bolzano, where they performed in intensive competition rounds before an audience and an expert jury. In the final, the three best candidates played together with an orchestra for the coveted Busoni Prize. This competition is far more than a contest – it is an international forum for excellence, musical precision and dedication.
BINDER supports young talent. It is no coincidence that BINDER sponsors the audience prize of this competition. Supporting young people on their training and career path is a central concern for us. Music and technology share a common denominator: both depend on precision, excellence and an uncompromising commitment to the highest quality.
Just as a piano combines the finest mechanics with the highest craftsmanship, our climate chambers reflect the same spirit. Building an instrument requires attention to detail, know-how and passion – just as the development of our technology does. In both worlds it is this combination that turns ability into peak performance. That is precisely the connection between BINDER and the Busoni Piano Competition: the ambition to give your best at every moment.
The prize winners. This year's competition produced three outstanding talents. First prize went to 25-year-old Yifan Wu from China. His interpretation of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3, op. 37 convinced not only the jury but also the audience. For this performance he additionally received the audience prize, presented to him in a ceremony by Mr Peter M. Binder.
Second place went to the Georgian Sandro Nebieridze with Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody, third place to the Greek Christos Fountos with Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 1.
All three prize winners have already attracted international attention and are regarded as rising artists who will be at home on the world's great stages.
Precision as the connecting element. For BINDER it was a special honour to be part of this unique competition. Because in music as in technology, it is about achieving the highest level of performance – carried by passion, discipline and precision. The Busoni Piano Competition makes these values tangible in a musical way. And that is exactly why it is the perfect stage to show what BINDER stands for.
